Homes are as different as the people that live in them. There are many different needs and questions that arise when having a new furnace, water heater, boiler or air conditioner installed.
Whether you are in the midst of new construction, upgrading to a different heat source, or are faced with equipment that is no longer working, there are many different options for the homeowner. It may seem overwhelming to educate yourself on the various options, and it is best to speak with a reputable licensed technician.
When reviewing your quote, here are a few things to be knowledgeable on:
1. First and foremost, there are many different products and brands available to the consumer. Often contractors will carry multiple brands to give the homeowner options in terms of price and warranty. Unfortunately, with all the options, there also comes more and less reputable products. Be sure to do some research on the available options or brands you are interested in. Think of longevity as this is an investment for yourself as well as your home. As a technician, who has worked in the field for many years, TM Industries has consciously made the decision to carry brands we know and are proud to stand behind. As a home owner myself, I would want to know that I was putting in a quality product that stands the test of time.
2. Efficiency of the unit: As the cost of fuel is constantly increasing we want to ensure that we are aware of how efficient the unit is that we will be installing. The rating reflects the percentage of energy used efficiently (a high rating is also known as “high-efficiency”). All units run at different efficiencies. If this is important to you, be sure to communicate with your technician that you may be willing to purchase a better model to save on fuel costs. On your quote you may find the word SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficient Rating) or HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) with a number. This will indicate the unit’s efficiency.
3. Size of your home or business: When it comes to the cost of products, be sure to keep in mind that the larger your space or square footage, the larger the unit needed.
Be sure to express your needs or concerns with our office when quoting your new unit, be upfront about budget, time line expectations and what is important to you as a homeowner. Most importantly, if you have a questions in regards to your quote, or there is something you don’t understand, always reach out so that you are aware of the work that will be completed.
